In July of 1701 the French colonized city of “the straights” (Detroit) officially became incorporated. The next three hundred years were a complicated tale of colonialism, industry, government sponsored racism, and unimaginable resilliance. Come celebrate with stories of the city and learn the lessons of a region that intentionally marginalized an entire population, and what we can do about it now.
Join us as Deirdre (Dee) Church helps us explore and grow our own capacity for supporting trans people through direct action. Using her expertise as a clinical therapist, Dee will discuss the pendulum of hyper-activism and burnout that so many activists face, how to slow down our nervous systems to make intentional actions, and how to soften emotional barriers that stop us from embodying our justice-seeking principles.
Our America includes everyone! This July 4th weekend, come celebrate both our freedoms and our rights as citizens of this imperfect country, still living into its dream of inclusion.

Service on this Pride Sunday will be located at 1st UU Detroit. Four congregations will join together in a joyous celbration of pride before heading down to march in the Motor City Pride Parade!
Our youth will lead us in a service discussing what they want to tell the greater congregation of UUCF and adults as a whole. Join us for discussions on faith, growth, change, and wisdom.
Joanna Whaley will speak about her experiences with surviving conversion therapy, and how she imagines a day when the spiritual world leads the way in ending the oppression of our fellow humans.
Our faith community is both historic and ever evolving! This Service will recognize long term members and thank our elected leaders for their service this year. We will also celebrate our annual flower ceremony which represents the diversity of our community.
Resistance to Empire comes in many forms! At this multigen Service we will explore hope in the face of overwhelming odds, the bonds of community during challenges, and the possibility of redemption, even in the darkest hour.
