In July of 1701 the French colonized city of “the straights” (Detroit) officially became incorporated. The next three hundred years were a complicated tale of colonialism, industry, government sponsored racism, and unimaginable resilliance. Come celebrate with stories of the city and learn the lessons of a region that intentionally marginalized an entire population, and what we can do about it now.
