Hello UUCF Members and Friends!
We are excited to be able to share with you the ministerial transitions occurring for our congregation at the beginning of August.
First, Rev. Karen Madrone will be moving on from UUCF at the end of July, and becoming the minister of St. John’s Unitarian Universalist Church in Cincinnati, OH as their developmental minister. You can read more about this transition on St. John’s website here: https://stjohnsuu.org/well-have-a-new-minister-in-august/
We are so grateful for all that Rev. Karen has brought to UUCF during her time here, and we wish her the best of luck on her journey!
Secondly, the Ministerial Search Committee is excited to announce that Reverend Eric Hausman will become UUCF’s new minister starting on August 1st!
Rev. Eric’s early days as a minister started at Harvard Divinity School, after which he served congregations in Freiburg, Germany, Massachusetts and North Carolina. After spending the last 7 years as a chaplain at healthcare facilities in Toledo and Ann Arbor, we’re excited to welcome him back to congregational ministry at UUCF!
A little about Rev. Eric:
Kids: I have 2 kids, aged 9 and 12 (and both about to have birthdays)
Favorite Sports: Hot yoga, cycling, racket sports, hiking, occasional triathlons…
Favorite Dish to Cook: I do enjoy cooking and have a few specialties. I make my own kimchi, my kids say that “Hausman Pancakes” are the best, and I make a mean paella.
Favorite Books: Some of my favorite books have been by Kierkegaard, Atwood, Murakami, Szymborska, and Ko Un. (I was a philosophy major and really love the history of ideas in general and different ways of conceptualizing (and embodying) religious experience.)
Favorite Films: Love going to the movies. Cartoon movies like the new Mario movie with my 9 year old. Ted Lasso on constant replay watching with my 12 year old. Independent/Art films if I can find people to go with.
You can learn more about Rev. Eric during a special video announcement during service on Sunday, April 12.
The following is a message from Rev. Eric to the congregation:
Dear Friends,
Thank you for the invitation to join you. I’m looking forward to arriving in a couple of months and beginning the work of ministry together. Over the past twenty years, I’ve served in both church and clinical settings, and those experiences have shaped in me a deep respect for the complexity of people’s lives—and the quiet, steady importance of showing up for one another.
I continue to believe that what happens in a faith community like this is not peripheral to the world, but deeply relevant to it. Doing good work with good people always matters—and part of that work is not only how we care for one another within these walls, but how we turn outward in love and justice toward the wider world around us. In a time of fragmentation, the simple act of gathering—with care, with curiosity, with compassion—matters more than we might realize.
I’m grateful to be stepping into that shared work with you.
With faith and gratitude,
Rev. Eric
