A Hidden History: the Empowerment Tragedy of 1969

A little talked about aspect of UU history is the walkout that happened at the 1969 General Assembly. There were opposing efforts to respond to the civil rights movement which resulted in a split in UU leadership. This event continues to have longstanding ramifications to this day. Come learn about this history and contemplate how we can truly live our values of inclusion.

Compassionate Communication Series: Requests

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) or Compassionate Communication is a method of connecting with others in a structured way that can improve our interactions, which brings forth greater compassion and peace. This is the final week of our NVC series where we will be discussing requests and how they differ from demands and wishes. We will demonstrate how clear, positive requests can ensure that we are understood and that our needs and the needs of those around us are met.
