UU is a liberal faith that seeks to offer a radical welcome to all who enter. What a poetic idea, but what does that mean? Radical welcome is more than opening the doors, it’s a way of relating that affirms what it means to be UU. Let’s explore and imagine how radical welcome can be a part of the 2024 congregational journey.
Jeynce Poindexter will share experiences with the Ruth Ellis Center and awareness of the discrimination, murder, and harm of trans women of color, particularly Black trans women in and around the Detroit metropolitan area.
Jaike SpottedWolf will be speaking about how we can break cycles of Indigenous erasure and how we can invite principals of First Peoples back into mainstream culture. We will learn how harmful colonization has been to sovereign nations in Turtle Island and how those themes also harm non-Native, settler descendants.
