The Rev. Alexander Riegel, Minister

alex@uufarmington.org

Reverend Riegel was born and raised in southeastern Michigan.  He attended the University of Michigan where he received his Bachelors Degree in Philosophy.  In 1988 he moved to Massachusetts where he attended Harvard Divinity School until 1991, at which time he received his Masters of Divinity.  He also received his Masters of Theology from Harvard Divinity School in 1995.

Reverend Riegel is in his 17th year of Ministry, this being his ninth year serving our historic congregation.  He has served First Parish Canton, in Canton, Massachusetts and the historic First Church in Boston, in Boston, Massachusetts, before moving to Michigan upon the birth of his son.

Reverend Riegel married in 1999.  His wife, Kimi, is also a Unitarian Universalist minister currently serving as minister of the Northwest UU Church in Southfield, Mi.  Alex and Kimi have two children, a twenty year old daughter, Ariana, and a ten year old son, Preston.  Alex and Kimi are also proud animal companions of Nietzsche (Alex’s Alaskan Malamute) and Ophelia (Kimi's Australian Shepherd).

As is evident on our Ministry page (please visit it next if you haven’t already), Rev. Riegel’s religious life is Interspiritual.  That is, he grounds his own spiritual practice in the methodology of several different traditions, e.g., Hinduism, Buddhism, esoteric Christianity, and Sufism.  And, it is from this Interspiritual religious life that he challenges us as UUs from his pulpit.
